After School Program Assistant
CBA seeks a qualified individual to serve as temporary, part-time After School Program Assistant. The Learning Zone is an after school program run in partnership between CBA and The Lowell Housing Authority which provides homework assistance, educational tutoring and mentoring to low income diverse students residing in Lowell. The Learning Zone is operational during the school year, Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and staffed by a Youth Services Program Manager, hired by the Lowell Housing Authority along with the CBA After School Program Assistant.
The After School Program Assistant will be responsible for:
¨ Assisting the Youth Services Program Manager with overall daily operations of the homework club,
¨ managing part time tutor recruitment, training, supervising, scheduling and overall quality of instruction by the tutors,
¨ student recruitment, attendance and behavior while attending the club,
¨ monitoring academic progress,
¨ implementation with parents,
¨ student and parent orientation,
¨ outreach to area schools for student recruitment,
¨ assist with student appreciation and recognition events.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The After School Program Assistant will act as a positive role model for students, have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, be able to work independently and take initiative, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills with adults and children, be committed to making a difference in the community.
- The position is part-time, non benefited, 20 hours per week, expected to work while the club is operational (M-F from 3:00 to 6:00 pm), with the remaining hours flexible. The position is funded during the academic school year, with summers and school vacations off.
